Certificate - If water right is certificated, a certificate number will appear under this heading. If not certified, a zero will appear. A certificate is granted by the Oregon Water Resources Department (OWRD) after the permitted water right is shown to have been put to full beneficial use and is in compliance with the provisions stated in the permit.

Permit - This heading refers to the permit number associated with a water right. The permit number is assigned by OWRD before construction of the water system. All water rights have permits, but not all water rights have certificates. The letter code at the beginning of the permit number signifies the type of water right. (G = Groundwater, S=Surface Water)

POD - A water right may have several different points of diversion (POD). A POD is the location where the water is withdrawn to be used by the water right holder. This number signifies which point of diversion is being referred to by the query.

Priority Date - This is the date assigned to the permit application. During periods of water shortage, senior water rights holders (older priority dates) take priority over junior water right holders.

T-R-S QQ - Township; Range; Section, Quarter/Quarter - This is where the water right is located using the public land survey system. Each township and range consists of 36, 1 square-mile sections. Each section is divided into quarter sections and each quarter section is divided into quarter-quarter sections.

Example: Township: 2N Range: 3W Section: 4 QQ: NENW

POD Use - POD Use can be described as the purpose for which the water associated with the water right is being used. (IR = Irrigation, DO = Domestic, AG = Agriculture)

Type - This is the source of the water used in the water right. (L = Lake, SP = Spring, WE = Well, ST = Stream)

Status - This is the status of the water right. (R = Rejected, C = Canceled, V = Non-canceled)

Rate - This is the rate at which the water can be pumped from the source. (C=Cubic Feet Per Second, G=Gallons Per Minute)

Limit - This is the total volume of water allowed to be used during an irrigation season. (2.5 acre-ft/acre * number of acres = acre-ft irrigated)

Other Limits - These are other limiting factors of the water right and these may be dates of use (irrigation season) or additional rate restrictions.

Source Name - This is the source of the water, which can be a stream or river if referring to a surface water right or a well if referring to a groundwater right.
